For years, his research group has studied the impact of conflicts on health. We met Richard Sullivan (Director, Institute of Cancer Policy and Co-Director of the Centre for Conflict & Health Research, King’s College, London) at ESMO 2023, in Madrid, and we asked him about the effects on cancer care of the two bloody wars in Ukraine and Palestine, and what would be the impact of current conflicts on the oncology community in Ukraine and Russia in the years ahead. Is there a direct impact of wars and weapons on health in terms of cancer incidence and prevalence?
